Art Commissions
Rates & Payments
Base rate of £10 per hour
Detailed backgrounds add an extra charge of £1 per hour.
One additional character in a character-focused piece is free; further additional characters are an extra £1 per hour.
So, for example, a 10 hour piece with 2 additional characters and a complex background would cost £120For examples of what that would look like, check my portfolio.

^ Pictured above: 2-4 hour watercolour paintings. These tend to be a little more abstract and less detailed than my other work, or otherwise are just smaller than usual.
^ Pictured above: various 7-10 hour watercolour paintings.
The first image is an example of my scanner not always being able to handle very bright pigments, so unless you tell me up front that you want to prioritise how a piece looks in real life as opposed to how it will look as a scan, then I will probably avoid that kind of brightness for commissions.
^ Pictured above: an example of 10-15+ hour paintings. I do these rarely in my own time, and will definitely take upwards of 3-4 weeks to finish one. I recommend these mostly for characters with a lot of fur or similar details - the time can be a little unnecessary for more simple subjects, and may lead to an overworked painting.
^ Pictured above: various other art examples, including progress pictures, sketches, and photographs to showcase differences in scan vs irl colouration
About
Hi, I'm Casper, AKA Regular Dog (or Snippy in most online spaces). He/They.I'm a UK based artist and writer (though admittedly I do more of the former than the latter). I also like to cook and bake, I have two cats and a pet snail, and I don't particularly know how to write personal introductions.I specialise in drawing animals, monsters, and other kinds of creatures. While it's not quite my personal niche, I tend to advertise my work in furry spaces due to style overlap.Currently (as of september 2024) I am only taking traditional media commissions, but this is subject to change. My primary medium is watercolour.I have my own projects going on involving worldbuilding and speculative biology, so I am also open to things such as creature/character design, and worldbuilding related stuff in general. I can also offer 1-3 hour sketch pages for cheaper, looser work, focused on whatever aspect you'd like me to pay the most attention to. 2+ hour sketch pages can be done with paint sketches, i.e. digital or watercolour paintings with less attention to small details/smooth blending.I also work with watercolour/ink, which I can scan in and/or photograph to send digitally. If you are interested in physical work then please feel free to reach out regarding postage. I am unable to cover postage fees, so prices will vary depending on your location.Regardless of price and timeframe, I always try to complete every commission to the best of my ability. I will give you regular updates and check-ins regarding your commission, and will have a consultation with you before we get to payment. This will include things like how long I think it will take me to complete a piece, both in terms of how many hours of work I'll be doing, and also my downtime (which will be greater if I'm experiencing a cfs flare-up or something). Consultations can also cover things like composition, background elements, etc - anything that's relevant to the piece.
Help / troubleshooting
How do I get a commission?
Contact me via one of the options listed in Contact. More information is on that page. How will you send images/files for completed commissions?
This kind of depends on your preferences! If you want me to use a particular method, just let me know and we can work it out. Otherwise, I generally upload full-size files to mediafire and then just share a link to that - sometimes I have issues with images getting crushed or eaten by emails, so I prefer to avoid that if possible.Physical media will be scanned and/or photographed depending on what would suit the image best. If your piece has metalic pigments on it, I may scan it before adding those so that you can have a nicer scan as well as photographs/videos of the fully completed piece. When shipping physical items, I will put them in sturdy envelopes with additional backing such as cardboard to try and ensure their safety, but please be aware that I can't offer a refund if something is damaged in transit. Are the artworks delicate?
Yes, very. Handle with care - try not to touch the art directly with your skin, especially the watercolour paintings, as this can cause smudging. Keep them away from damp areas, such as against windows where there may be condensation. Be careful if you ever use glue or other adhesives on the back of the page - if it's water based and you use too much, it may seep through and cause the colours to bleed.

More Information
Reading all of this is optional. You are fully welcome to ask me anything directly, if that would be easier for you. This page exists for anyone who would like a more thourough rundown of how I do things before contacting me - most of it is simply elaboration on things found elsewhere on this site.Backgrounds
When I say I'll charge extra for 'complex backgrounds', I'm talking about full-on environments, or other things which may take up an hour or more of the time you pay for.For digital art, simple, repeating patterns or abstract shapes are free, but should be requested if you want something specific - if you don't, there's a chance I might ask about it if I think it'll look particularly good with the piece, but otherwise I'm likely to forget or not bring it up. Foreground 'set pieces' (such as a character sitting on a rock) also do not count as background work, and would be included in the normal base price - but you still have to request them, or I won't know what you want. For traditional art, the threshold for what constitutes a 'complex background' is lower, as I can't just copy or tile assets as I would digitally.References
When commissioning art of a character, I will ask you for references. These references could be written, drawn, or both.
If they are drawn, but in a very different style from the one you request, I may ask for clarification on how you want me to draw/translate certain features.
If they are written, I may ask for you to provide some images of animals/creatures/other sources of inspiration that you want me to emulate or encorporate into the design, if necessary. Written descriptions should be as detailed as possible. Please also understand that I'll have to take some creative liberties with written descriptions - I'll try my best to match it to your expectations, but there may end up being some variation! What I will/won't draw
*this section is primarily aimed at clientele coming from discord or tumblr. If you’re coming to this document from another source such as facebook, and you’re confused about the terminology, just shoot me a message and I’ll be happy to discuss it with you.I won’t draw characters with fully human faces. If they’re animal-like in nature I might consider it, but only if I think I can pull it off; please don’t be offended if I refuse your character based on this! I just really dislike drawing human faces… not super good at it, either. (furries aren’t technically my niche, but are fine; catboys and the like, less-so.)I don’t have much experience in drawing mechs, but if your reference is detailed enough I would be willing to try it. Please don’t expect technical accuracy, though. I have drawn complex technological objects before, but only really with watercolour and stuff, so the experience there is still limited.I don’t really do nsfw art. Mild suggestion or a character making a saucy face or whatever is alright, but generally speaking, no nsfw. This is less to do with personal hangups and moreso that I just don't have practice in that area and wouldn't be able to guarantee a good quality outcome. No bigotry, hate directed at protected groups, or art made with intent to harass; if you try to trick me into creating art that will intentionally upset someone and I find out, your commission will be cancelled immediately, with no refund.I reserve the right to refuse commissions for reasons not listed here, if it comes up.
Refund/Cancellation Policy
Unfortunately, I can only offer partial refunds if you decide you want to go that route, depending on how much time I’ve already put into the commission. If you pay me without making contact I’ll assume it’s just a kind donation; partial refunds of up to 50% are only applicable if you pay me to work for 10 hours or more up front, and then decide to cancel before I’ve completed 5 hours of the drawing (for digital art, my drawing program tracks time, and for traditional commissions I always make not of the time as I'm drawing). If you cancel after the 5 hour mark, I am willing to discuss our options, but you won’t be getting the full price back.Cancelled and refunded commissions also will not be sent in their unfinished state. If you cancel but don't ask for a refund (i.e. if you pay the full price anyway), I'll give you all the drawing files as I normally would, it just won't be a finished piece. If you give me substantial reason to believe you’re trying to scam me, you won’t be getting any refund, even partial. The longer you wait to ask for a refund, the less money you will get back (1 hour of work completed = 50% refund, 5 hours of work completed = 10% refund).rest assured, no matter how long something takes me, I will always make sure to give you a finished piece, as long as it does not conflict with my refund/cancellation policy (above paragraphs).
